2017 RECAP

2017 was a good year. Of course, every year we have ups and downs but overall, I can say that I have learnt a lot, that I was given incredible opportunities and that I probably made the most out of my year.

The year started already under a good star one could say since I got to spend New Year's Eve in my favourite city on this planet - London. Okay, I have to admit that I probably idealise the experience of standing in the cold for hours, waiting for the incredible fireworks near the London Eye a bit, but nonetheless, it was a very nice experience that I hold very dear in my memories and that I can recommend to everybody who loves fireworks. London's your best friend for New Years! Don't forget to wear something really warm though - warmth over style is the motto, guys. Don't do the same mistake I did and put your focus on looking cute but completely freezing your butt off.

Speaking of London, can we talk about how lucky I am to finally have realised my childhood dream of studying and living there? I still can't realise it to be honest and I'm pretty sure that it will take me some more time to really get that into my head that I live now on my own in the city I dreamt of as a clumsy 10-year-old with very particular style.

One thing I really feel very grateful for this year is that I realised who my real friends are. Moving away made very clear who cares enough about you to keep up to date with your life and take time for you when you come home, and I feel very grateful to have so many dear people that showed me this year even more how important real friendship is.

Since we are already talking about important people in our lifes, I want to give a major shoutout to my family whom I have grown even closer to since moving away. It sounds really a paradox, I know, but humans are so weird - they mostly realise what they have in others when they don't have it in their lifes immediately anymore. So when I moved away, I realised how nice life was living in "Hotel Mama" and how much I miss my whole family. That's one of the reasons why I decided to spent my Christmas holidays in Odessa, Ukraine, with the other part of my family, that I hadn't seen in 4 years. You know what they say: finding yourself alone in a new environment, a new city, a new country, makes you truly realise what you had before. And I'm surely no exception to that rule.

I also had the chance to be part of a dance show in July of this year, after having passed all of my exams successfully (thank God!). Dancing has been a huge part of my life ever since I moved to Luxembourg at the age of 5 so I was very lucky to be able to somehow close this important chapter in my life by being on stage one last time.

Another highlight of my year was being able to travel to Quiberon, France, which is one of the prettiest places that I've ever seen in my life. Hopefully, I'll get to go back at some point.

This year, I also got numerous other opportunities thanks to my blog and to uni, which for me, basically go hand in hand. Not only did I get to go to the Jigsaw A-line Fashion Show at London Fashion Week, but I also got to go to the yearly London Fashion Week Festival and British Fashion Awards. I even won tickets for UK On Stage, which was an amazing experience as well. I've never won anything in my life before, so that made the whole experience even more exciting.

Let's not forget about all the great photoshoots I got to do this year. I'm in no way a model, I don't even consider myself to be photogenic as a matter-of-fact but am still sure that how I come accross on pictures depends on who's taking the picture - so thanks to all the people that made me look like a cool person on photos. I really appreciate it!

I could literally go on for hours and ramble about my 2017, but I don't want to bore you so I'll just finish on this note. I'm thankful for every person that I had by my side this year (old friends just as new ones, as well as my beautiful family), and for every opportunity I got.

Cheers to a new chapter and new adventures. I hope you all had an amazing start into the new year. Let's see what 2018 holds for us!
